Happy Half Term!

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of this half-term, and we all look forward to a break in which we are allowed to meet family and friends again with the sun finally deciding to shine, it feels like a good time to celebrate all that the children have achieved.

The children have certainly impressed us all with their ability to keep themselves and others safe.  They are definitely helping to put the smiles back on the faces of the adults working in school.

Year 3 have been creating a puppet show, Year 4 fabulous hats for their mad-hatters tea party, Year 6 have been making amazing stop motion Dinosaurs and many more impressive projects – look out for the highlights on the year group blogs!

We are busy behind the scenes trying to arrange events in the last half-term for the children to enjoy safely.  However, we are mindful of the need to mitigate risks and for the priority to be able to provide education for all children, given how much they have already missed.

Obviously, we are all going to want to mix with each other over half-term and visit family and friends that we have been waiting a very long time to see. To mitigate the risks on returning to school we urge all adults to take (and report) lateral flow tests twice a week, to keep children at home if they are unwell, and to ensure that ANYONE showing ANY COIVD-19 symptoms gets a PCR test and to isolate until you receive your negative test result.

Any child showing symptoms who is NOT tested will need to isolate for 10 days along with any siblings in the school and all adults and children in the household.

We have had a look at what might be possible and, so far, we are planning on having the following over the next half-term:

  • Parents’ evening:The date for the summer parents’ evening will be confirmed when we return after half term. This will be ONLINE ONLY. Reports will be shared electronically before the day and you will have an opportunity to hear from your child’s class teacher for the next academic year.
  • Sports Day: We are hoping to hold a Federation Sports Day. We are currently finalising plans for this so keep an eye out on the blog for further details. This year we will be sharing this event with parents and carers through videos and photos posted on the blog rather being able to invite you in person, in order that we are still able to have something special to celebrate with the children.
  • Year 6 Prom: We are planning to go ahead with an end-of-year celebration for the children in Year 6. This is likely to be outside, but will be a great opportunity for the children to say goodbye before moving onto secondary school.

We hope you all have a wonderful break with your families.

Best wishes

Susan, Jo, Attie, Robert, Rachel and Rob
