From today, Friday 20 March 2020, all schools, colleges and early years settings in England will close. All primary statutory assessment, formal exams and Ofsted inspections will be cancelled. This includes Year Six SATS which will not be going ahead this year. School is closed.
The government have stressed that every child who can be safely cared for at home should be.
From Monday 23 March 2020 we will reopen to provide a reduced provision offer for certain pupils. This will be based at Heavers Farm Primary School and is open to pupils from both of our schools who are either vulnerable or from families of key workers. The DfE list of key workers is here. It is a very different type of provision than we usually provide; for these pupils, it will be about care, not education. Yesterday we asked parents to complete a short online survey to give us information about your situation and why you require school based childcare. This survey was kept open until this afternoon when we had to close it so that we had time to plan in time for Monday.
We apologise that we are only able to offer this provision to a limited number of families. We have used the information families gave us in order to prioritise which children we can provide childcare for. The identified families will receive an offer of a place to attend the school during this time of wider closure. I will be in contact with these parents directly.
Unless you have been offered a place by us in writing, please do not bring your child into school whether you are a key worker or not; only families with an offer of a place can attend the school.
We support the government view that every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. So, if you are not sending your child to school, please keep your child at home, this is the safest place for them right now.
Thank you for your continued support in this most difficult of times.
