Cross Country Trials on Monday 24th Sept 2018

It’s a new year, and that means a whole new cycle of sports competitions! For us here at Heavers Farm, that’s a very exciting prospect, as we love to compete (and especially love to win)!

One of the first competitions is the trusty Croydon Schools Cross Country competition in Lloyd Park. Above you can see some of our fantastic athletes from last year’s cross country competition (including a child who came first in their race – see if you can spot them)!

This year, the race is open to every year group from Year 1 – Year 6, with everyone who qualifies getting a chance to attend the Croydon race.

As some of you will remember from last year, we have a set of open trials so everybody has a chance to try out to go to this competition. The trials will be a route around the school site for each year group, with the first 7 girls and first 7 boys in each year group given a special ticket and getting an invite to the Croydon race.

This year, cross country trials will be this Monday, 24th September! In preparation for the competitions on either the 3rd October or 11th October, depending on which year group.

If you want to take part in the trials, all you need to do is bring your PE kit in on Monday! Your year group will have a time slot and your teacher will ask who wants to have a shot at representing the school!

Remember, we’re all sportspeople here with lots of respect for each other, so we will be cheering on and supporting anybody on who gives it a try, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never run before or you’re one of last year’s winners, it’s a great opportunity for everyone!
