As a result of research into effective marking by the teachers and senior leadership team we have recently updated our marking policy.
A number of studies have shown that when teachers use marking codes pupils tend to focus more on the code than on the guidance being offered. Recognising this, we have decided to prioritise teacher time to allow them to provide incisive, timely feedback to children within their lesson time. As a result, you will no longer see the previously used marking codes in your child’s books.
Teachers will be giving feedback to children during the lesson and pupils will have the opportunity to respond to this at the time. This will ensure that misconceptions are dealt with immediately and will enable teachers to extend pupils learning further within the lesson. We will be reviewing this change in policy with the teachers again this term in order to ensure that it is having the desired outcomes and will keep you informed
