Last Thursday was a cross country frenzy, with all the races for children in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 happening in one day!
There were some outstanding performances, especially Mikayla in Diamond who came in a whopping 4th after being the only Heavers girl in the race, as well as Mohammed in Amber class, who won his race! A huge, huge well done to these two outstanding athletes.
Also deserving of a special mention is Dex from Zircon class, who stopped during the race to go and help other children from other schools finish! This is a really fantastic and kind thing to do and really embraces our school value of caring.
All of the Year 1 and 2 children ran fantastically and showed fantastic effort. They were all exhausted on the way back to school!
Also well done to all of the athletes who competed in the Year 3 and 4 races, especially those who improved on their results from last year, such as Kyra in Turquoise class, who managed to gain 10 places on her last year’s result!
Also running impressive races were Jaan and Jomei from Pearl and Jet classes, respectively, who both ran top-20 times to trounce the rest of the Heavers field of runners.
A huge thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to help out at the races, we couldn’t have done it without you! And thanks to Brandon’s dad, who sent us some lovely photos of the Year 2 boys race. And an even bigger well done to every child who took part in our cross country journey from trials to the races at Lloyd Park!

Mikayla said “I love that I came 4th and next year I really hope to get a medal! I really loved it!”
Fantastic! I think she’s in with a good chance of a medal next year, it was a fantastic run from Mikayla!
Best wishes,
Attie
