A group of cyclists from years 4 & 5 had the opportunity to race on the closed roads of central Croydon yesterday afternoon as a warm up to the Pearl Izumi professional cycle race that took place in the evening.
They were a credit to the school and rode well on the course which had a number of tight turns. Four children (Selahudeen, Frank, Jakub and Ellie) qualified for further heats. Unfortunately the thunder and rain rolled in and those races had to be cancelled – mainly due to the course not being safe in those conditions.
The children had fun despite this and were cheered up when they were given some great goody bags from Croydon council and British Cycling.
