Homework this week!

Do you remember when we asked you to submit potential names for all of our houses before the holidays? Well, now the time has come to put your suggestions to use!

Firstly, we’d like to thank everybody across the Federation for submitting such brilliant and thoughtful suggestions, there are some really inspirational people among these names.

Now, we’ve spent weeks poring over the many many submissions you have all made, and we’ve had to whittle down the list by only choosing the most popular suggestions. We’ve also taken out any of our previous house names, as we think it’s time for a change.

So onto this week’s homework! Below, you’ll see a list of five names for each house colour (red, green, blue and yellow). Your homework this week will be to research the person who you know least about in your own house’s list.

For example, if I was in the red house, and I know lots and lots about Martin Luther King Jr, but not too much about Emmeline Pankhurst, I would do my homework on Emmeline Pankhurst.

The key is to find as many interesting facts about that person as possible. One for Emmeline Pankhurst might be that she was arrested over seven times whilst campaigning for women’s rights.

Once you’ve got all of the information, we will be setting up a poll on the blog so you can vote for your favourites! Look out for this next week!

We’ve added a link to some information about each person to get your started…

That is why I voted for Jacqueline Wilson to be our house team name

Time to buy some Christmas shopping !

    04 December 2012
    Hi Everyone !

It’s Jingle Bells time again – and as I type I’m panicking, because I haven’t bought any Christmas presents yet! I wish I could get more organized and avoid this last minute rush. I’m shortly going on a little mini-break in Paris with my daughter Emma, so hopefully I’ll be able to find something lovely for her there. I shall have to give my cat Jacob a little toy this year, instead of a packet of his favourite treats – he’s getting a bit chubby and my vet says he should go on a diet. I know this is sensible, but it’s very hard to confine your cat to two meagre little scoops of low-calorie cat nibbles each day when he loves his meaty fishy wet food with a passion! Perhaps I ought to diet in sympathy. It would probably be very beneficial for me – but I don’t want to miss out on all those Christmas treats!

I’m going to buy all my Christmas cards and wrapping paper from Battersea Cat and Dog home this year. I’m very proud to say I’ve just been made one of their Ambassadors and shall do my very best to tell everyone what a wonderful organization it is. The trouble is, if I go to the Battersea shop I shall be very tempted to walk round all the kennels and cat cabins to see all the little inmates and then I shall desperately want to take one home with me. I am thinking of rehoming another kitten or maybe even a puppy, but not just yet, when I’m still travelling around a great deal.

I’ve been especially touched by all your hundreds of emails this month. I do wish it was possible to reply to each and every one of you. I’m so pleased that you’ve all enjoyed Emerald Star. A few of you have got a little irritated with Hetty, and feel she should have settled down with Jem and lived happily ever after – but I think Hetty is too restless and spirited a girl to be a quiet little country wife for the rest of her days. If you’re still fond of her, then you might like to know that Hetty crops up in the brand new book I’m currently writing, but she isn’t centre stage this time!

    Have a very Happy Christmas.

    DONE!😁😲😜😝
