Federation

Name our Federation

whats-in-a-nameAs part of the process of consultation about the possible federation between Heavers Farm and Selsdon Primary we are starting to think about the name for the proposed federation.

We would love to hear your ideas and suggestions for this.

What do you think?

  1. Dear Ms Papa’s

In relation to this proposal, I have a few questions:

What are the benefits of them joining?
How will this improve Heavers Farm?
Will pupils be expected to travel between sites at any point?
Will there be another change in uniform – as I assume from your question there will be a new name and identity for this new federation?
Will parents get the opportunity to speak with the school governors about this proposal?
If proposal is accepted, how long will it be before it is actioned?

    Thanks

  2. Dear Simone,

The main benefits of Heavers Farm joining with Selsdon Primary are the improvements to teaching and pupil progress. Working with another school has enabled us to improve our own practice and to share ideas from Selsdon. We hope that the impact of this partnership will be reflected in the results from both schools this year. We have seen improvements at both schools already and we look forward to even more.

We do not have any plans for pupils to travel between the schools. There might be occasions when we invite the pupils from one school to go and visit the other, but we have not planned anything yet.

There will not be a change in uniform for Heavers Farm, and we will keep our own school names. We are looking to name the federation but the schools will retain their own identities.

A formal consultation period will be starting very soon and governors are keen to hear from everyone, so please send in your questions and thoughts.

If the proposal is accepted we aim to action this by the start of the new academic year.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your questions here.

    All the best.

    Susan
