I am sorry to say we are approaching that time of year again when we need to vigilant about norovirus (Winter Vomiting Virus). The Health Protection Agency (HPA) report that there have been more outbreaks in recent years and are asking schools for help in preventing this spreading even further. We have been asked to do this by:
- Encouraging good hand washing with soap and water – this is key to preventing norovirus infection. We would ask that you get your child into the habit of regularly washing their hands properly particularly after they have used the toilet.
- Alcohol rubs are not effective against norovirus but can be used in addition to soap and water during outbreaks.
- Robust cleaning of the environment, equipement and hard toys.
- Asking anyone who experiences vomiting and/or diarrhoea to remain away from school for 48 hours following the last bout of vomiting and/or diarrhoea.
We apologise for any inconvenience that keeping your child away from school might cause, but we need to think of the well-being of all of our school community. Thank you for your support with this.
