National School Sport Week

Next week it is National School Sport Week. We will be celebrating this all through the week. You are welcome to join us.

We will be holding our Olympic Opening Ceremony. Led by our Nursery Class, the whole school will walk along a route through South Norwood High Street carrying our Olympic torches. We will be starting at 9.00am.

Is our Sports Day. The children will take part in activities throughout the day. In the morning children will compete in various fun activities. In the afternoon children will race each other on the track. Children will grouped according to their house, so that the they can compete against each other. Please make sure that your child is wearing their correct PE kit on Tuesday, including their house PE t-shirt.

There will be a number of Paralympic Games organised for all of the children to take part in. These will take place in the school hall as well as on the field.

Our school will be competing against the schools in the Woodside Partnership (South Norwood Primary, St. Marks C of E Primary, St. Thomas Becket Catholic Primary, Woodside Children’s Centre and Infants, Woodside Juniors and Ryelands Primary) Olympic Event at Croydon Arena. Children have been selected from each year group to take part in this competition. Children from Reception to Year 2 will compete in the morning. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 will compete in the afternoon.

We will end the week with our Olympic Cultural Event which will be held at 9.30am on Friday morning on the field (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome to join us to see each class perform something that reflects the culture of Olympic country that they have been studying over the past term.

  1. Sounds like a whole lot of fun, I’m sure all the children will be very excited with all the activities the school have planned for them!
